We had a great time at the Irish Web Awards last week. The awards took place on Thursday 1st November in the Mansion House in Dublin. This year’s event was hosted by MC Rick O’Shea. Realex Payments were delighted to sponsor the event for the fourth year running.
The Irish Web Awards have being running for five years now and acknowledge some of the best websites in Ireland across various categories.
We had some surprises in store this year for guests, in the form of a “crystal maze” style money-grabbing machine which was full of Realex and Carapay dollars! Rick O’Shea injected a huge amount of fun into the evening by inviting different companies to engage in hula hoop battles on stage which soon began trending as a #hoopoff on twitter! The night even featured several impromptu Gangnam style performances on stage by attendees! It was a very successful and sugar-filled night with complimentary cupcakes and sweets.

The awards are going from strength to strength each year and are becoming a fixed event in the diaries of the “online world.” The Irish Web Awards, at year number five, were a huge success.
